Yes the YZ400 4 wheeler might be quick when they bulid it but it will never even come close to touching the CR500! The CR500 is the most intense dirtbike or any MX bike ever built. The Yamaha will be fast but will never run with the CR or even KX500. Sorry but I'm a die hard Honda man with a built 250R and would welcome the challange of a YZ 400 Quad see ya

Most Intense MX'r?
Yes
The Best at getting the job done?
No.
I think my eariler post(taken from Dyno readings out of Dirt Bike) would have
explained why the YZ400F in Dirt Bike
form can keep up with the CR500.
While it dose not have the CR's blistering
Peak of 50+, it dose indeed produce a much
broader Power, I have Rode a CR500 98 model
it builds fast then peaks and dies(you definatly feel it fall before it hits the Rev
-Limiter), the YZ dose not build as fast,
however dose not fall, she pulls hard and
hits the Rev-Lmtr like a brick wall,
@11500 thats why.
A Quad vs a Dirt Bike, thats hardly a fair
comparison.
You welcome the Challenge, Cool
Yours is a Great Quad, just remember,
Yours is a 80's CR250 based Motor!
Not a 90's CR500.
Unless you have Swapped them.
Of course Yamaha may not build this Quad, or
put in a Lame Frame, even Neuter the Motor.
It all Remains to be Seen.
Great Day

500 VS. 426
First off, the 426 is more reliable! a 4 stroke is always, when in good working order more reliable than a 2 stroke, modifications for a 4 stroke are indeed more expensive, and dont yield as big gains as do 2 strokes per money invested. But you wont see any 80's 2 strokes still running strong, without yielding at least a top in rebuild, my friend had a 88' 250x and just recently sold it to go off to college, it was rode hard and put away wet to say the least! It's motor still ran strong and only 2 things on it ever needed replacing, the valve guides, which wore and caused some smoke after hard runs. And a rear axle bearing assembly, now many of you will just put this off as honda quality, but not just that 4 strokes are far superior as reliability goes, and can perform very well modified and still maintain reliability!!!
