First of all the bike is stock with the exception of a pro flow and Boyesen Reeds. And the problem was rather digital

Here is a brief summary of the issue:

Runs well in the low end and mid range. Will not clean out in the top end.

What's been done:

1) Plugs were pulled; right one is grey left is normal
2) Right carb was pulled and cleaned; pilot, main, and the float plunger; found minor sand in the pilot jet
3) Fuel flow was checked to both carbs; good
4) Reeds were looked at; normal
5) Plug wires were swapped; no change
6) TORS were taken apart; nothing found

So it would appear that the bike had a jetting/carb issue based on the original findings. Unfortunately nothing unusual has been uncovered.

The next thing we were thinking of checking was a compression check of the engine to verify that both cylinders are equal. After that, the electrical system was going to be scrutinized.

Any other inputs are much welcomed.

What you have done so far sounds pretty good. After a compression check is done and if nothing found there I would probably check electrical also. Still nothing, I would go back to carbs. Both plugs should be a brown/rusty color. With the right cylinder being grey (lean) it's possible that cylinder is most likely the problem. Being leaned out could have damaged your crank bearings/cylinder. Deffinately run a leak down on the cylinders. If it was electrical it would be noticeable probably in the midrange as well. Good luck!

I had a similar problem once when I put on toomey pipes. It wound up being the float levels were wrong, along with the jets.
