YZ250 Qaud

Man this is GREAT news for our sport. It really looks like Kawi and Yamaha will be sticking with 2-strokes for a while, because they are sticking to the east coast where their isn't such an outcry to ban 2-strokes.
I think their plan is to see if their will be enough interest in the 2-stroke to justify in still nmaking them. We all know that California has the biddest sales figures when selling quads, but if the interest in the east is very good, I think we will see a 250 2-stroke from Kawi and an updated Banshee from Yamaha.

So what machines is Yamaha actually going to build up for racing? Are they going to have a custom made YZ250 racing quad similar to Kawasaki's KXF-250-01? The Banshee and Warrior? No YZF400 quad? I don't have the pleasure of recieving the new Dirtwheels from where I am at right now (Christmas break), so whatever you can tell me I appreciate.
I know that Kawasaki has announced that they are going to keep their GNCC race team for the Y2K season and they said that they might expand it.

A YZ250 Quad.
That would actually be a great idea.
When the TRX250 was produced, the CR250 motor
which it used was the best in that class.
Now according to what I've read and heard, the YZ250 was the best in 98/99.
Now I still think the YZ400/426F motor would be a more suitable choice, there is now some
contention in the Mags and on the Dirt as to what the better
250 for 00 is, in 98/99 no question YZ250,
but this coming year the CR250 is a very viable threat to the YZ, as for the 125 and
Open classes the YZ is again on top.
If Yamaha would consult with a known frame
maker, it would perhaps have the same impact
as the TRX250.
A Interesting footnote, Yamaha for 1998 and
so far as recorded in 1999, has outsold Honda
in Dirt Bikes(Source editior of Cycle World
who was at the Honda retailers meeting, also
heard some things about ATV sales as well, He did) That as far as I know has never occured before, I don't think anyone has ever
outsold Honda in the Dirtbike dept since they
started making them.
