raptor oil change?

There is no easy way to change the oil on the Raptor. Warm engine up. Then dump oil from reservoir and crankcase. I take the skid plate off when changing oil. I found a funnel at Walmart so I wouldn't make a mess for the reservoir dumping of oil. Then I found another really small funnel to put the oil back in the dipstick hole. I am able to put in 56 oz. back in reservoir. Start motor to let oil circulate for a short and then shut engine off. Add to fill up to full mark on dipstick. I put in 2 qt. and 12 oz. The oil is up over the full mark. I don't change the filter every time. Chet

This has been kicked around a lot on this forum. Everyone seems to have their own preferences about type of oil and filter. After the first 10 hours of what I considered to be break-in, I changed to Valoline 20-50 (not racing oil) and a AC Delco # 2057 filter. The filter is about twice as long as the OEM. I wanted more filtering capacity and it also holds a small amount more oil. It protrude out more that the OEM, but I have not had any problems with it hitting anything but that is always a possibility. I also like it because it matches the blue bike and the price is about $5. I change the oil and filter every 10 hrs. or so. I have a little over 60 hours on it now and no complaints and no reasons to go back to the OEM at this time.

Any parts store that carries AC Delco should have it. The numbers for it say it fits a 97 Mazda mini van with a V6 engine. Other brands carry this one but some do not fit the Raptor right. The puralator will not clear the large gland nut and will blow the oil out when you start it up. Some say there is a Fram that will work but the one I tried also would not clear the nut. The inside of the mouth of the filter have to be counter sunk in order to clear.
