2000 Warrior would not start the other day in the morning, check the spark, was none, then the afternoon warmed up and it started and ran just fine, now, the next morning, it would not start agian, waited till the afternoon to warm up and nothing, check the spark on the plug and there was none, but yet it staterd the other day after the weather warmed up last time. I have checked all the connections I can find, and everything seems to be tight and in place, changed teh fuse, what could be causing this, and what can I check next, before taking it to the shop???? THANKS..

i know you said you checked every connection, but just wanted to make sure.

Are the battery terminals tight?

There is a plug on the engine block, just below the shifter, make sure that it is still making a good connection.

Also, when all this is happening, does the nuetral light come on no matter what?

I checked the connection under the shift lever, (didn't even know a wire was under there - duh) anyway, I took it off and placed it back, making good connection there, as far as the neutral light, it only comes on when in neutral, when you put it in gear, the light goes out, i have also checked the back up lever, all connection seems to be alright there also. Battery connection are good, engine will turn over, wont start, can smell gas so I know it's getting to the carb..

Might have to replace the coil and start working on part time job for the cdi.......

thanks for the responses...........
ps-I would like to ride it like I stole it, if it would only start hehehe

My 1990 Warrior had the exact same symptoms - turned out to be the stator. The OEM stator is pricey - Dennis Kirk has an aftermarket one for the warrior made by Moose - lots cheaper.

Seems pretty new for a bad stator but....?

See ya, Eric

I was going to start a new thread to ask this question, but does anyone know if stators from the Big Bear, Kodiak, Wolverine or Warrior are interchangable? I have a similar problem (no spark) and I've pretty much got it boiled down to the stator, which, as someone said, is a very pricey dealer item. I've found a cheaper one on the aftermarket, but they only list the Big Bear.
I'll have to check Dennis Kirk myself.

my 88 warrior does that too. ir used to run fine but then stall after 10 minutes of riding. i thought it was the coil so i bought a used one that we tried on my friends new warrior and it worked. its pretty weird though because sometimes it will get spark and sometimes it wont, i checked all over for a loose or broken wire but found nothing. is it worth buying a new stator or should i go used. any other suggestons that could be wrong with it??

thanks
-Mike

This is propably not going to sound good to you........... I think its your cdi box. The way it runs sometimes then doesnt other times. My bike had the same problems....... in fact it still does iam waiting on my box to come in. My bike totally lost all fire, and i tried everything. It has to be my cdi box. My stator ohmed out ok. Unless its your stator i would bet on a box. Before i bought one i would try to try a known box. A box off a 97 or newer would work for you. If one of your buddies has one.

We double check all connections, coil checked out, use a cdi from another warrior, still would not start, used my cdi on the other warrior and it started, cdi checked out alright, I'm going to replace the prmiary pickup in the stator, it's $75, if that doesn't work, will replace the stator coils, thanks for all the info
