DyNo JeT NeeDles In RaPtoR
#1
Has anyone else been haveing problems with the Dyno jet needles? i have the stage 2 kit if that matters. I recently bought a big gun full exhaust and it calls for 150 155 mains and 27.5 pilots. I had to order the jets so for the time being i ran the stock pilots and needles with dyno jets 148 and 150, biggest in the kit. It ran fine that away. The new jets came in all except for the pilots cuz they ordered the wrong size. I installed the 150 155 mains and put the dyno jet needles in and left the pilots still stock. i have a stock filter with 2/3d's of back lid cut off. It ran fine for about a week of day to day rideing, now it runs like crap in 2nd. I guess its about a 1/4 throttle it will spit and spotter and eventually die. It does this the most when goin up an incline. Even the smallest of inclines. I've never changed my spark plug since i've gotten it about 6 months ago. If anyone has any ideas of whats wrong please reply. oh yeah, my elevation is 370. thanx

Go back to the Dynojet mains. For your elevation, run the 148/150s like you were. Dynojet main jets and factory jets are not the same and do not run equivalent sizes. Dynojets flow more than factory jets. You really shouldn't mix and match Dynojet needles with factory jets.
Also, change the spark plug at this point. Who knows what condition it is in.
Good luck.

I would agree with notu on this one.
I would run either all stock components or all dynojet components.
I would run the dynojet needles, the dynojet mains and leave the pilots alone.
I have this setup and it works great.

I would leave the stock pilots alone too. Follow the Dynojet directions and you will be a happy camper. The pipe manufacturer is speaking only of how to mod the factory carb setup. The good thing about Dynojet is they take out most of the guess work and provide the most power gains across the entire RPM range.

I had the same problem (similar setup) sputtering out just as I hit the last 15 ft of some massive hill when the rpms are dropping. I put in new pilots (25's since I ride high altitude and run either 140/142 or 142/144 mains) and it all cleared up.
what is it with yam dealers seems like everyone gets the wrong jets first time out

Yeah I was trying to mix stock parts with Dynojet parts and it just doesn't work. Go with either all stock or all Dynojet. Right now I got the Dynojet kit in with DJ148/DJ150 mains in. My setup is listed below. My altitude is 400ft.

I changed the spark plug first cuz it was the easiest and it fixed the problem. After that i checked the plug and it was lean so i went ahead and put the dj148/150 mains in. It has never ran this awesome before. Gotta love it.
