I think you would be happier with the wolverine. I have a 99 and think it's a great quad. It was the perfect quad for me, sport handling and suspension with racks and 4wd. It is one of the few 4x4's I know of capable of doing wheelies on flat ground, and is the lightest 4x4, it's even lighter than the timberwolf 250 4x4. It will hang with all sport quads I know of on woods trails, just don't expect to keep up as good on wide open stuff. The suspension is the best of any 4x4 I have rode. There is also a huge aftermarket for it, I believe its the biggest of all 4x4's. It's also the best looking 4x4 IMO. My main complaint about it is that your legs get covered with mud in muddy stuff, I got fender extensions on mine and that helped 100%. Hope this pushes you to the Wolverine, it's a grat bike.

Nike,

You never got back to me regarding my 2001 Wolverine. It's rather rude to waste a persons time (mine) wanting all these details on my quad and how many 'tricks' i can do then not even have the common courtesy to reply. You said that you would reply that your dad was going to the bank to get the loan and you would let me know the next day.
Boy am i glad I didnt hold my breath.
You should really wait till you have a quad till you worry about modifying it to do 60.
I think you've wasted alot of peoples time with your 'tricky' questions. What does it matter if you can slide the rear? If you really needed to slide the rear wouldnt you buy a 2wd sport quad?
either you need the 4x4 or not.
Get with the program.
You can certainly tell your age buy the priorites of your questions (i.e. how many donuts? can i slide the rear?) instead of dependablilty issues, yamahas service record, etc.
You've got alot of growing up to do.
I hope it's sooner rather than later.

It won't do 60 no matter what you do next to changing the gearing of the machine.

MrWolverine how do you like the K&N Power kit on your Wolv? I'm looking to get the Team Alba pipe setup with the K&N, torque stuffer, and Dyno jet kit. Do you anything about that setup? I did email Team Alba and I had my emailed replied to me in less than a day. That I thought was pretty impressive.

I got the moose mud flap extenders,,,they are cheaper and wider than
Yamaha,,, the come with all hardware, and the flaps are marked with
a guide line on how far to put them on the fender.. drill holes and
remember to lock-tite the bolts... mud will work them loose...
Durable too, mine have been up against some trees at times...
Are you happy with the jet kit???????????
I was thinking of getting one....

The Jet Kit is the most bang for the buck of any modification I have done......for 50 bucks or so it helps the throttle response and cold start ups alot. I think its well worth the price.

If you're looking for the biggest bang for the buck, buy some individual main jets, remove the baffle and drill your airbox lid. Doing that made a huge difference for me, and with the stock tires I could hit the rev limiter in 5th gear.
Going with a Dynojet kit and K&N filter seemed to help the bottom end a little, but did not seem to increase over all power any more than going up 1 or 2 steps on the main did.
Putting in a Wisco piston helped out the bottom end quite a bit more. Now there are many hills where I would havs had to down shift to 2nd, and now it will lug it's way up in third. A noticable improvement over stock.
The best single thing you can do to improve the Wolverine is to go with a larger tire. I put on 25" Dunlops on aluminum rims. It climbs hills way better now, doesn't smack rocks as often and is like a different machine in the mud. There is a trade off in terms of handleing though.
