Banshee pipes (Toomey)?
#11
DynoPort and Moto-Fast both offer 2 into 1 pipes and they both have the distinct indy car sound. I orginally had the dynoport version and it was nice except for the fact that it lost too much top end. I then bought FMF's SST and have very pleased. A great overall powerband, about as much low end as the 2 into 1!

Racer425, what usually beats you through the corners? I didn't quite understand which bike you were talking about in your post.
Also... I looked at the Toomey site and they didn't talk about actual hp numbers. Could I get an actual person here that can give me a breakdown of something like the following but of course with real hp numbers... -Thanks!
97 banshee stock 32 hp
+ Toomey and jet kit = 55 hp $500.00
+ boost bottle = 60 hp, more torgue on bottom $75.00
+ stroked, welded crank, = 65 hp better reliability... $350.00
+ weisco pistons, stock bore = 68 hp $125.00
something like the above would be great... (even though the figures above are not true)
Basically, I'm looking at adding a banshee to my collection and would like to know what types of mods vs. money I'm looking at spending to get at a measureable level with the other top modified quads out there.

Unfortunatley, its going to take alot more than add ons to compete with the other top modified banshees. Before I moved to Arizona, I would probably won 85-90% of my races, now, out here, im like the bottom of the barrel. I guess it depends on what level of mods the banshees have that run around Indiana. Good luck and have fun...

Call the manufacturers of the parts you want and ask them. I kind of doubt any of these people go get their quad dynoed each time they add a part to it. It would be nice but real practical. Numbers on a dyno don't mean crap half the time. Once you factor in turns and trees and other obstacles. Unless you're straight line drag racing it doesn't seem to matter much. Pipes, V-Force reeds, porting, cool head to change compression these are all good add ons. I noticed the biggest difference after the pipes when I had it ported and went to a single carb setup. The quad hauls through the woods now. Great climbing torque and holeshot power. Port work was done up by you, Illnois anyway.

cctman i dont have any hp numbers to give you but i can tell you from my own experience, when i bought my Shee (brand new) the only mods i had were a set of Fatties and a pro flow air filter set up.We are a bunch of guys riding together,4 2001 Cr 250,5 mildly modded TRX 250R,2 2001 Raptors and 1 2002 Raptor and finally 1 440EX,we drag race on a 1/4 mile pavement strip that runs through our local dunes and the results were me losing to the CR 250s by about 5 or 6 quad lenghts, beating all the other quads hands down. The CR 250s were taking me the 5 or 6 lenghts from 2nd gear through 5th gear, since we had almost the same top speed they were not gaining on me on top end.
Then i added a cool head with 21cc domes and took the air box lid of it closed the gap from the 5 or 6 quad lenght they were getting on me before to 2 or 3,next i went for the Vitos Super stock pistons now they were taking me maybe 2 quads lenghts from 2nd through 4th but when i was hitting 5th i was gaining and when i hit 6th i was passing them at the end of the run i was 4-5 quad lenghts ahead, this is on a 1/4 mile run on black top vs totally stock 250 dirt bikes. On a 1/8 mile run i still would have lost but it would have been close, the only reason i was winning on the 1/4 mile run is because of my top speed advantage a stock CR 250 will hit around 80 MPH and i was hitting 85-86 MPH.
So a good set of pipes (Toomey or CPI preferably even though my fatties were ok for the job) a cool head or head mod,a set of Vitos SS pistons, a tricked out air box and of course a good set of tires, will allow you to be quite competitive. Now as far as the big boys are concerned unless you are willing to spend alots $$$ dont even think about it.
