Hey I have a Question about the water temp on my banshee during hot weather it boils over. Some people say that this is normal and dont worry about it just stop riding for a min and let it cool. Well I would like to install a water temp Gauge simmilar to ones found on Street bikes. This bothers me because you wouldn't drive your truck with out paying any attention to the water temp and just drive till she boils over.If any one has ever Put a temp Gauge on a Liquid cooled quad or knows how let me know.

If you look back a few months, there was a guy who did put a water temp gauge on his banshee. i believe he left an email address if anyone was interested in seeing how he did it. go back to last years questions and it should be there.

 

there was an aftermarket water temp gauge available, cant for the life of me remember who had it , scour the catalogs, and check the dw 4wa mags, look in the rear, if not, they are not hard to make, i made mine
start at an automotive store, the kits for cars will work, i used a sungage set, just look at the numbers, stay in the 150 to 200 range, that is what the bike runs at
get the kit and get creative for the sensor, a brass collet will work, 5/8" , just drill and tap to fit the sensor, easy.

 

Try FTZ Racing, they have a website www.ftzracing.com and they have a water temp gauge, digital even I believe, for retail of about $70 and it comes with the necessary plubming to install. Certaintly a wise investment to keep an eye on things. Same goes for a Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge.

 

that was it there backcountry, i racked my brain trying to remember that company. i just like to get creative, i think mine cost 22 beans to put together, but, that was in 89!!

Thanks for the help but where did you drill the hole to put the sensor? If I do end up putting a Temp gauge on i will probly just go to the parts stors and get one.

I'll send you some pictures of this gauge. I've had people want to buy complete kits of this gauge, so I've actually been selling them by word-of-mouth (thanks to the forum).
