I have never owned a yamaha with the auto clutch and i have a question. The hondas and kawasakis and all the rest ive ever rode you could shift gears without letting out of the gas(not that you should) and you could pull up on the lever like when you put it in gear and it wouldnt move until you took your foot off. The timberwolf when you put it in gear it will go when you give it gas whether you take your foot off or not where a honda or kawasaki will not go until you get your foot off the lever. Also you HAVE to let out of the gas or it will not shift. and when you do shift, it is a hard change but not slipping. Is this normal? or is there clutch trouble?
Basically, Is there supposed to be free play and any foot controlled clutch action?

My neighbors timberwolf has never had any problems with the clutch. Yes you can power shift but you can brake the shift drum and can we say $$$$$$$? IT will slid into gear, but dont get to comfortable with it. Yes, you can pop the clutch by pulling up, giving it gas, and letting it off to do an impressive wheelie. You must put it in gear for it to move. The should be no free play between the shifter to the shift rod. BUt the shift rod will have a tad of free play. Also to make sure you understand, when you pull up on the shifter it is unmeshing the gears so it is not engauged in any gear. When you let the shifter back down it meshes into another gear. If this does not help you you must be more clear in your questions.
