12 Tooth or 13 Tooth for a Raptor on Olds hill?
#1
I'm going to Glamis for Thanksgiving and I'd like to know what you all recommend for gearing at the dunes. Mods are as follows: 01 Raptor with no airbox lid, 160-165 mains, needles up one notch, and a Pro-Circuit slip on. Will I be able to pull 3rd gear or should I put on a 12 tooth front?

First off, you are down on potential HP because you are not using dynojet reprofiled jet needles. Go get the jet kit and start there. Next, for racing, get some Haulers. Then, go with a 13/42 for stock engine. All you will need is 1st and 2nd. 3rd gear pulls about the same as 2nd on a stock bike.

I just got back from Glamis and ran the 13/42 combo per Raptor720's advise and it was much better than the 12/40 combo. The 12/40 rev'd the motor too much and was too low of gearing for fast dune riding.
The R's are realy high in 2nd gear up Olds but you won't have enough power to pull 3rd and go much faster than 2nd. I prefer 3rd gear though.

I agree with the others, leave the 13 tooth on. I have run both and the 13 works best for hill running and general dune riding.
Do you stand a chance against a piped Banshee? No, but the Raptor is a blast to ride at Glamis, so just have fun
