High reving raptor
#1
I just bought a 2002 Raptor about three weeks ago. I noticed after my second ride that it does not want to return to normal idelling rpms. It isn't reving supper high,, but just idels a bit higher then when it is cold or first started. It doue not matter of I blip the throttle or restart it. Is this something I should take it into my dealer to look at or is it normal? I would appreciate any advice. thanks

id check for a air leak around the carbs,i have not herd of the 02 having that problum.put an inline filter in the fuel line,6500 you would think they would give us a .95cent filter..have you tried to adjust the idle down once its warmed up ? id warm it up and than adjust the idle down to an acceptable level (the idle screw is located near the petcock on the left side)than when its cold start it and see how it idles..i have a digital temp gauge and the raptor takes a few minutes to warm up .it will need the chock on untill its warmed up.as the idle rises turn the chock down.once it warms up the idle should be the same it was last time you set it ..
id look into these things first
hope this helps

My 01 does the exact same thing based on your description. If I "blip" the throttle, it will return to normal idle. I've found that if I set the idle to a lower RPM it returns itself more reliably but this idel setting is a little lower than I like !? I have no clue why it does this but I am seeing the same thing.

You are slightly lean.
Not being super familiar with the Raptor carbs, there should be an idle mixture screw(fuel screw on some air screw most others) that can be adjusted to fine tune with. Not sure if you have a fuel screw or an air screw. Fuel screw, turn out about 1/4 turn at a time. Air screw, turn in about 1/4 turn at a time, until you reach satisfactory idle. Make a turn wait a few moments for the idle to stabilize, adjust more if needed.
