After break in what brand / weight of oil and what filters is everyone using in their 00 kodiaks? also has anyone thought of using slick 50 engine treatment in them? I have been using slick 50 in my everyday vehicles plus three different motorhomes for years with no problems.

NO dont use Slick50 in your quad. It will mess up your clutches. The teflon in the slick50 when it gets in them will make them slip and wear fast. Also make shure you use a motorcycle oil in it because you dont want friction modifiers in the oil for the same reason. you are really best off just to use Yamalube ither the conventional or synthetic. That is what yamaha recomends and im shure outhers will tell you outherwise but it seems to me that if yamaha designes it then they probubly know what should go in it better then anyone.

I use Honda 10w-40 in mine. Believe it or not, thats what the mechanic at the Yamaha dealer told me to run in it. He said Yamalube was inferior to it. Go figure
