Why would Yamaha put cheesey plastic undercarriage protection on their flagship quad? I can understand maybe weight redoction, but jeez! After a spirited midnight run on wed. evening with 13 other quads(including another new Raptor)All I heard all night long were rocks SMASHING into the swingarm and then felt a strong pulsing sensation through the rear brake pedal. I knew immediatly that I bent my rotor pretty badly.Sure enough it was out of whack by at least 3/8".Upon closer inspection in the morning, not only was the rotor trashed, but the swingarm skid was torn off underneath the sprocket!Any recommendations on a high quality aftermarket skids?

I swapped out the swingarm skid before the first ride with an armadillo from Rocky Mountain ATV. I installed a PRM ATV chassis skidplate after the first ride, no swap was needed, I peeled off the garbage factory skid plate on the first jump. So far I am happy with both skidplates.

I bought a DG (defected Goods) skid plate for my Ds and the hole in the plate did not even come close to lining up with oil drain plug on the bike, I don't think I would recommend DG. Most people recommend PRM products- Good luck

Costs less to make and make more money by having the possible option of offering upgraded skids in the future as an accessory.

I live in new england and ride in a lot of rough stuff and to be honest the stock rear skid has held up very well. as far as after market rear skids , Protect makes a stanless steel plate thats supose to be good and I have run dg rear plates and never had to much to complain about. the gyt-r engine skid is good but has to be remove when chaning the oil not to bad though.
