I have a '01 Kodiak that I bought used. I have a couple questions.

1. What are the largest size tires I can install on the stock wheels, without rubbing on tight turns? (and without installing spacers)
Does anyone have problems with crap getting into the tire bead area? I do. Maybe it's just my riding, but the tires seem to be almost even with the edge of the rim, allowing lots of wood & dirt etc to get into the tire bead, causing slow leaks. I think a wider tire would help prevent this.

2. Did your tool kit come with a shock adjusting wrench?

3. Has anyone installed any auxiliary lighting. I was thinking of mounting a high intensity lamp the the handle bars, just weondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks

how do you like your Kodiak??

1. I think you should be able to put 27" tires on your kodiak, not sure how wide they can be.
2. I just bought my kodiak brand new and i am pretty sure it didnt come with the tool to adjust the shocks.
3. I dont have auxilary lights but i think someone else on this site does.

Hope this helps, good luck

I've had my 01' Kodiak for several months.

As far as tires go: I'm not sure what the largest is, I just ordered 26's for the rear and went with the stock size up from (so I don't loose much handling) Whatever you do get rid of the stock tires and replace them with at least a 6 ply.

The Kodiak comes with the suspention tool, but its pretty useless.

As for lights... there is a post around here that talks about it. Your guess is as good as mine.

My '02 Kodiak never came with the shock adjusting tool.

For crap getting in the bead, I ride in a field with the corn cut down and you know about the left over stalks are sticking out of the ground, they have never stuck in the beads, I've never had this problem, not even with my 200SX. What do you mostly ride on to cause this??

My riding has been through a lot of swampy areas and crossing beaver dams etc. There's a lot of the thick black swamp mud with hidden obstacles and lots of fallen/cut tree limbs. Also alot of our trails, guys have cut brush and trees and thrown the stuff into the swampy areas to try to help traction. This is where I'm getting all the crap in the tire bead.

Did any of you find a shock wrench anywhere? My Yamaha dealer says he can't find a listing for it.

Now you guys have me wondering... maybe that little tool isn't for the shocks. I'll have to look into that next chance I have.
