? about 400 Kodiack
#2
I don't know alot about Polaris machines so I can't make a good comparison, but my 2000 Kodiak 400 has been an excellent atv. No major problems so far after about 1500 miles. The rear brake wears out fast but that's a well know problem. I does ok in mud and is excellent for trail riding. I use mine for some light towing alot and it moves 1000lb around easily. Alot of guys complain about the stock tires but I still have mine on. I added a winch to help in the mud and I'd buy this same quad again in a heartbeat. It's the right size for me-I'm not a big dude (150lbs) and I have no use for a fat 500+cc machine in my neck of the woods, and the Kodiak is light, steers easy and accelerates good.

First: Its "Kodiak" not "Kodiack" hehe sorry, I couldn't resist.
Now on to your question:
I've had my Kodiak for a few months and couldn't be happier with it. I've had it in just about every kind of muck you could ask for and has performed great. I've kept up with the Banshee's, Blasters, and 250's on the ruff trails. Pulled the Banshee out of the woods a couple times and winched the Blaster out of the river. I've rolled it a couple times and even bounced it off of a tree and its still running strong.
My only gripe is with the stock tires, but they are on the way out VERY soon.
As far as performance is concerned, most of my friends that ride "sport" quads have taken a spinn or two and have been very impressed.
Hope thats what your looking for.
