11-1 Wiseco Piston In Raptor Question?
#12
Raptor720,
You said I would not waste my $$ on a 100mm piston for a number of reasons. ??Why is this? Could you give a few reasons. I realize its 26 more CCs but is that really worth the extra money, or the limitations of rebuilds?? How far can you go on over bore with this thing? The 102mm requires .080 that sounds like a lot, would a person be able to go more if the thing chewed up a piston?? IM NOT starting and argument with you just want some info!! Any advice on this subject would be great.

SUre,
Here is the deal:
On the Raptor, using the stock bore, there is no way you can properly modify the head chamber for better flow. When you go with the 102mm, there will be enough room to do the correct chamber mods. THe added benefit is the extra cc's. THe stock sleeve is just fine for the 102. THis combo has been used in Europe for over 8 years! As long as you keep up proper air cleaner service, you should not have a problem. If you ever need to bore, there are over bores to the 102mm.
I just can't understand why someone would go with the stock bore when, for an extra $60 for the bore work, you can have a substantial power gain.
On that other comment about the bike going flat on top, it can very easily be valve springs!
