the k&n like all paper filters flows much better than foam, but it has a reputation for passing small particles so if you ride in what we call here in NM "moon dust" go with foam. the other thing is if you ride in the wet and mud, again a paper filter will allow particles and mud to pass through, so foam is the better choice in this case

I am hoping it helps since that is what I use most of the time, I keep a couple of foam filters oiled and ready if I know I am heading into the dust or riding with more than 2 other quads.

I run a K&N with a Outerwear on my Blaster and do a lot of mud riding. I have never had any problems with it and thanks to the Outerwear my filter stays clean and dry. So I would go with the K&N with an Outerwear.

BTW, K&N Filters are cotton cloth, not paper. Anyone who owns one would know this. So take his comments with a grain of salt.

I use a K&N on my scrambler and check my airbox to carb boot for dust and dirt during filter maintenance. Haven't seen any noticeable dirt or grime. Ride in dusty conditions about 20% of the time (usually go to the sand when woods are really dusty).
