I'm new to this site, but it's seemed great so far at the things I've seen. I own a '01 Alba Raptor (Don't but trough Alba, you'll end up paying more money) and I love it. It already has a Pipe but I still want more power. I heard something about a 680? or 720? I dont want to loose relibility. Maby just a Hi Comp. Piston and Cam?? Most of all I want to beat those fast Piped Banshee's up Comp. Anyone had any suggestions? Your help would be great.

depends on how much you want to do and pay to go faster, I have the high comp 102mm piston/cam/springs combo and yes it is way faster. You can go up to a 105mm piston (720), but you should make sure it is done correctly (good shop like trinity can help), you can also go the turbo route, but that might tend to make your quad a bit "squirley" and tough to ride in some situations. you'll find lots of good posts here about most of it

I got a question about high compression pistons...Do u have to run straight race fuel? Currently I mix 110 with 93 octane.

my piston has an 11:1 compression which should require ~93 octane, I shoot for 95 octane by mixing 114 octane with premium (about 1:4)

how do u find out which octane is best for u'r engine?...and when u say u'r raptor is alot faster what do u mean by alot. I'm considering putting high compression pistons in but concerned a little about realiability. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

by faster I mean it "walks away" from any other raptor I have raced. I went with a racing cam (270 degree duration), this cam actually cuts back some of the low end, but gives a lot more at the top. most raptor riders dont ride the top end, but I have a bad 2-stoke jones, use a 12T countershaft and a top end modified raptor so I stay on the gas a lot, a moderatly modified raptor will pull away from me at the start but as soon as my engine starts to rev--> they are dust

Buy a Nitrous kit form Nitrous Express for $550 and spank the guys that spent thousands to go fast.

How much is it to go the 686cc route and do you lose reliability?

If you do most of the work yourself, it is under $1000, you can have trinity do it (send them your motor) and I think its around $1600 without the exhaust system. I hope there are no reliability issues, we just checked my motor this weekend (after about 20hrs) and it tight as could be. time will tell

The High Comp. Piston and Cam seems to me the way to go. I've seen many different Pistons for the Raptor - Wiseco,HMF,ect...Which is the best? And, how hard would it to put the piston and cam in, is it worth going though a shop to install it? Thanks much
