Hey folks. I am new to this forum and I need some info on the new Raptor from people who own one. I like to ride trails and fire roads. Some low speed manuvering and high speed blasts on logging roads and open meadows. How does the Raptor perform in these situations? I really want a quad that can do most things well. The Raptor seems to fit the bill. I have eliminated the heavier 4wd quads due to cost and performance. Can the Raptor hold its own against CR250's and the 450F's?

Thanks for any info!!

the raptor fits the bill for all those conditions but if the bikes wanted to they can leave you in the dust on any quad.

Very true. The bikes could leave you like you were standing still.(not saying that the quads are slow, but the bikes are FAST)

i have a 2001. love it. i ride just about everywhere and it does the job and does it well. although they left a bad taste in a few mouths doesnt mean they are a bad machine. parts will fail just like on any quad. id look into an extended warranty too. better safe than sorry! good luck!

I have a 2001 Blue Raptor and love it.......I only weigh 185 lbs though so im not what you'd call a "big" guy. Ive let my dad drive my quad (bigger guy weighs about 230 or so) and he seemed to like it alot. He didnt get on the throttle at all but had no trouble maneuvering it. He was all smiles! Wish you luck in your quad hunting! I havent had a problem with mine yet...... Knock on wood!

The Raptor is ideal for the conditions listed. It's loads of fun to open up the throttle and blast down the fire roads. As far as the bikes, if you're riding on gravel you'll be the one setting the pace, just get in front early and everyone will be afraid of the rocks you're kicking up! Of course the same holds true for the bikes. You will find it has good power for riding with dirt bikes but not trying to outrun them. Bikes are usually faster and quicker, but they start out with a 200lb weight advantage and less rolling resistance.
