I'm getting a 2002 raptor for x-mas and was wondering what exhaust to put on it. I really don't wanna pay $500 for a exhaust. I like the exhaust loud and adding lots of horsepower. Are the fmf and whitebrothers any good? Thanks for all your help!!!!!!!

Assuming the Raptor is a gift, and you're getting it for "FREE".....why would you moan about spending $500 on an exhaust? Bust out! It's worth it. (I spent $650 on a Yoshimura full titanium exhaust, and haven't regretted it for a minute) You gets whats you pays fo! Seriously, any good brand of exhaust will get you a nice gain. It's just some of the brands are of questionable quality.

I bought a FMF powercore IV slip-on. I like the performance but do not like the way it attaches to the head-pipe. It literally "slips-on" with no positive clamp or anything (unlike the stock set-up). This, I'm guessing, makes it prone to wear due to vibration at this junction and it seems this play would translate to the exhaust manifold studs as well. I'm not impressed at all !

yoshi rules!!! if you just want to go cheap, and it doesn't matter how loud it gets, gut the factory and rejet.

WAS THERE A NOTICABLE HP GAIN WITH THE YOSH? HOW DOES IT SOUND COMPARED TO A BIG GUN, CT, WHITE BROTHERS. HAVE YOU RIDEN ANY OTHER RAPTORS WITH AFTERMARKET EXHAUST TO BE ABLE TO COMPARE?

Have you rode a Raptor? You may have enough performance already. Why not buy something that will make you faster somewhere besides a straight line? Steering damper or maybe an aftermarket set of tires? Maybe a set of nerfs or hand guards? WHatever you go with, I would recommend an an aftermarket air filtration system first. Twin Air advertises a similar set-up to the Pro-flo now....FYI.

The cheapest complete exhaust system that I have seen is the HMF system ($369.00). Straight through exhaust system's (like the HMF, Big Gun, Pro Circuit) tend to be louder than disc type systems (White Bros, Supertrapp, DG). I'd skip the exhaust and buy an extended axle first.

GYT-R on stock headpipe gives the most for the money, I like my big gun system, but it is in the $500 range

Here we go again with the ol exhaust thing. Look, don't take my word for it, look at some dyno sheets. A full system on anything but a very built engine is costing you power. Even on a fully built engine, if your cam is on the smaller side, the big exhaust will cost you power. Reason is the air speed in the bigger pipe and the reduction of torque caused by the lower air speed.

Here is a link showing that the Full Big Gun is crap compared to a stock headpipe with a tip.

Good luck and stay away from the junk exhaust people!!!
