making the raptor equal to a piped shee?

I'm sorry ...I'm just sitting here shaking my head trying to not to laugh. I can't understand why Yamaha can make an engine twice the size of the banshee put it on an updated chassis and still not completely obliterate the banshee in almost every facet of racing. Not to mention the company has had about 15 years since the intro of the banshee in 1987 to try and achieve this feet. It still hasn't. Some things I just don't get. I wonder how much money it would actually take to include the cost of a raptor to equal what horse power you could get out of a simple AOF 400 powervalved banshee bolt on mod with pipes to also include the cost of a new banshee? I bet it would take several more thousand dollars.... I wish the manufactures would stop playing around and strap a real high end hp engine into an ATV chassis. They did to my 98zx9 at around 130hp. How come they can get even get half of that underneath an ATV? I hope some of these ATV manufactures are listening. In my opinion 40-50 hp is completely pathetic for any stock quad. It should be more like 65-80hp. What an embarassment to the industry.

Where would you even use power like that besides in a drag race? That is just redicules. Where do you ride the bonneville salt flats? It's not like you use atv's on the highway. Sure, drag racing is fun and that maybe all of what some people will do but for the most part in all around riding they are making them with plenty of power. If there ever comes a time when I feel that I need to go over 70mph thru a corn field, up a cliff, or over a jump then I need to be checked into a insane asylum. I must say though, it is fun passing cars on the highway while in the ditch when getting to my closest trail spot.

One answer......Traction!!!! Without it, it doesn't matter how much power you have. Ever notice how your quad gets slower as the tires round off. I ride with a piped Shee, a 310r, 2 zuki 250's, a 400ex and a Zilla. Every time we go out we practice Hole Shots and every time some one new wins, all depends on who hooks up.
Around the track the Piped Shee is the only one that I can't put a few feet of distance on coming out of the corner and heading up a 20 degree hill. The Raptor only uses one or 2 gears while the others are busy shifting up...Gota love that wide 4 stroke power band.
Although I have never been by the Zilla rider on that same part of the track (Zilla rider seems to be missing the fear chip that slows me down on the jumps).
More Practice...More Practice...More Practice!!!!!!

Dextreme, you're on! (just kidding!) I'll be out to sand lake in a few weeks, if you're up for it lemme know, I dont mind getting beat that much. Of course if the Raptor wins the drags by even an inch, I'll tell everyone it was a couple hundred yards. If the shee wins it'll be by a nose. I think that's how its supposed to go isnt it?
