Wolverine Jet Kit
#1
I recently purchased a dynojet kit for my 2001 Wolverine. Should I install this myself or take it to a professional? The directions seem pretty straight forward, but I don't want to mess anything up. If anyone has any other directions other than those sent with the kit please share.

Installing a jet kit is pretty straight forward. If you have any mechanical inclination it won't be hard. You will also learn valuable info about your machine and will be able to diagnose future problems as they arise. Give it a shot and follow directions. The maker of the kit will be hepfull if you run into problems.
NOTE- be carfull with the screws on your carb. They are soft and prone to striping, Using the proper screwdriver will prevent having to replace the screws.

I did not do mine myself but I too heard it was pretty easy if you follow the instructions if I get another 4-wheeler and put a jet kit in I will probably do it myself. Like Airwolf said use the correct tools for the job.

What size 489's are you running? I have been thinking of getting a new tire and have looked at the 489's do you like them. The 489's is only tire that I have found that has the stock size 23"x8"x12" (front) and the 23"x10"x12" (rear). I rode a friend of mine who has the 25" Dirt Devils and I didn't really care for how it handled in the woods. Maybe it is just the tire style but it felt more prone to bicycling than mine than mine does.

jcsact- I really like my 489xt's- I am running 23x10 on all 4 corners because the narrow stock front tires always left my front rims with dents and dings- the 10" wide front tires I have now really protect the wheel and I have not noticed any negative handling effects.
I have found that any tire larger than 23 on a stock Wolverine will drag the low end power down too much. So , untill I get my motor and suspension mods- I will stick with the 23's, although I may stick with them anyway because they handle so good!

Thanks all I tnink I will do it myself. I am running a super trap ids2 and a k&n airfilter. Should I use what dynojet recommends 155 main jet and fuel needle set to #4 groove or something different?

I would start at the manufacturers recomended settings and go from there.
a 155 main may be a little rich , but that is better than being too lean.
Set it up and then do some test runs and check your plug- let us know how it turns out!

I've put most of my mods on,just got finished putting on the spacers today. But I plan on letting the dealer putt in the jetkit,it just sounds to difficult to install.

I am still in the process of finishing up the tweeking process on my wolverine with the dyno jet /K&N intake kit with an FMF MEGAMAX II. So far I found that to run the #155 (Dynojet) jet, I had to drill air holes in my air box and use all 11 disks for my pipe, and it still runs a little rich. I went riding this past weekend for about 80 miles, and found it got reall bad when i got above 2K ft., so tonight I changed over to the #150 jet that came with the kit, and so far it hasn't done anything bad to the wolverine, just made it a little smoother. I hope in the next week or so to get another ride on the back side of asbe if it doesn't dip down to the -20's or more. I will let you know if dropping down to the #150 helped out for altitude problems. I am predicting from how it runs now, that it should do a lot better at altitude.

I have used the Dynojet kit on my wolverine(jet#155). The first little while it worked fine but after some use it was starting to sputter & cough. I went to the bike shop and purchased the mikuni jet 152.5 and haven't had a problem since. Slew72 I recommend seaching the forum for this topic. Thats where I got the info to go to this jet size.
