If you plan on attempting to port a 660 head based on someone's pictures, DON'T do it. The shape, volume, etc of teh ports and chamber are so critical that even a small error can kill the head.

 

Check on that, 720. I just wanted to look at a pic, is the larger intake valve worth the money on the 686?

 

Well Raptorterry must have hit the road, site is gone or at least it isn't working.

 

You are shooting for at least a 10% increase in intake flow. The ports seem to be ok and the volume is about max for peak torque at 7500rpm. SO, going with the bigger valve in the center is a good idea. IF you go with the 105mm bore, you can also go with bigger outside valves but trying to fit them on the 100 or 102mm bore will not yield enough benefit.

 

works for me..Raptor720 who do u think is the best engine builder? I want to build my engine so that it is reliable yet awakend...I was thinking 686 or I think sparks has a 690, what is your oppinion????what compression, cam, springs, air box mods, and exhaust do u recomend?? I have the FMF header and powercore iv spark arrestor with the arrestor screen ripped out. I havnt done any airbox mods yet because I dont know what to do or what jets I will have to go to...currently I have 150/155 jets everything else in the carb it how it came. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated....
