My supervisor at work has a 01 Raptor bought new in April 01.Hardly ridden, wants $5,000 for it and this includes a 3 year extended warranty. He's bringing it tommorrow for me to try out over the weekend. Is this a good buy, also, how much does the extended warranty sell for? I was going to get it so I could ride with my son which I bought a 01 blaster for.

sounds like a good deal. But youy know all the problems are the 01's right? As long as it is takin care of and broke in right it should be fine.

thats sounds about right. as for the dreaded "01" problems, every machine is going to go through parts at sometime or another. right now, everyone is afraid of their tranny or their axle and the carbs blowing off. ride it like you own it, and if it breaks...fix it. Id snag it if i were you.

Yeah, I thought it was a good deal too. I am aware, from reading ya'lls post, on the problems with the Raptor. The three year extended warranty is making me lean more towards buying it.Has there been any recalls on the 01 Raptor yet?

That is a pretty fair price for a used unit, expecially w/ a 3 year warranty. I wish i could pay $5,000 for one. I bought mine brand new, and must have damn near $13,000 invested in the damn thing. What better way can you spend your money though?

Sounds like a good deal if the machine is low hours.

Jay, may I ask why have you recently replaced your 11/1 piston with a 12/1 that has only a larger bore?

Price sounds good. Check with Yamaha or whatever company the Warranty's under and confirm it's transferable and that the level of coverage doesn't change (less coverage) with new onwership.

in my footing, i typed 11:1 by accident. It is a .020 CT racing 12:1 piston. my bad. I too have the custom creased plastic from rolling over and over before i lowered and widened my machine (ok, I still flip it some times).
