My brother-in-law lives in Chicago. We will be taking a trip out that way over the summer. If anybody knoes of some good riding areas close to there let me know. I would hate to go and not bring the quad.

 

I have not gone there yet but the Badlands in Attica, IN I hear is great. One word of advice is I hear it's much better to during the week. They have a website I will post it for you. I live right across the lake from Chicago in MI. Others may know of good spots. WI has alot of trails also. Look up there DNR Website. or try Silver Lake, which are sand dunes near Mears, Mi

 

i have friends that have gone to silver lake and they describe it in one word...awesome. if you are a trail rider, you could try black river falls,wi. i ride there often and it is very nice. the trails are open year round,in fact,we are riding there next week. its about 3 hours north of the wi/illinois border.i think they have a site too, but im not sure.if they do look up jackson county on the net.

 

There are some riding places just west of chicago but I've never been there. If he lives in the city, leave your quad at home or plan on driving at least 2 hours to a riding spot.

Tons of people there from IN &amp; IL because of the straight shot up US 31.

Required for entry: ORV permit, $16.25; motor vehicle permit, $4 per day/$20 annual both quad and tow vehicle; and an approved dune flag, $17 at David Allen racing which is just across the street.NEW FOR 2002 is mandatory sound checks, nothing over 94 dB gets in. This has been a state law for all 3000 miles of state trails, but has rarely (ever?) been enforced. Check out www.oceana.net for more info on the area such as lodging, camping, etc. We try to go for at least two weeks a year plus as many weekends as we can squeeze in. The riding area opens April 1 and closes October 31. Off season rates are usually available throught the end of June and start back up after Labor Day. I have to say that unlike my honorable colleague Hondakilla, I found that the trails at Black River Falls were all whoops and dust. If you don't mind choking on the dust and having a sore butt for a month, then go for it. You'll also need a sticker and to get that you need your title, bill of sale, and proof that you paid tax on your quad. If you don't have the tax document then you will have to pay the tax in Wisconsin! based on what the bill of sale says.

What if you do not have the title? My bank has my title. Would just having the bill of sale work? Are there any good trails in Wisconsin that you know of? I thought Black River Falls was suppose to be the shiznit up there. Thanks.

 

yes, at times i have been severly beaten in black river by the whoops. it all depends on what you like i guess. the best time to go is after a good rain or otherwise you will get the dust which at times can be pretty bad. i guess it all depends on what your preference is.
