I wouldnt think the manufacturer would be to impressed to hear there was preferential treatment at different dealers. Should be able to get service work and warrenty work anywhere, they still get paid. What if someone moved from Canada to Maine? would the warrenty still be void?

Thanks for inquiring about my quad. No luck. I had a tip a few months ago but it was a dud. If you go to races in Oregon keep your eyes peeled.
I've given up on 250R's(still love those quads) just everything out there is garbage or to much $$$. I'm getting a new banshee from canada and a blaster for my son in Oregon. Checked the dealer in Bend What a JERK !!!!
I'm getting the blaster on the coast.
Canada warranty: The waranty may be good if it(waranty) is first registered in canada. Our local dealers barely deal from retail price, so everyone is going to Canada and the local dealers are doing all they can to put a stop to it. The warantys are only 6 mos and if I have a major problem I haul it back (about 3 hours never had to do that yet).
Good Luck !!!

No,
I spoke with Yamaha USA and they stated that the warranty is not valid in the US on Canadian machines, and you would have to take them back into Canada for warranty work. A Canadian dealer told me it could be warranted but it would take a few phone calls each time you took it in for service. Also any parts that were different between the US and Canada models would not be available, regardless if it were a warranty item or not.

I bought my Raptor in another state saved about $1000 on price & no sales taxes. I have bought almost all my after market accessories from my local dealer (about $2000 worth) & made friends with the parts guys. I haven't had any problems so far but if I had to do warranty work I would expect to be well treated by my local dealer. Don't rub their noses in the fact that you got a better deal somewere else buy your parts from them be friendly with the parts guys & you shouldn't have too much hassle.I wonder what parts would be diffrent on a U.S.A. verses Canadian Raptor?

ME400EX~

The only reason I went to Canada was because of my local dealer shafting me. I paid $200.00 short of $8,000.00 on a Silver Grizz with a Winch. That's fine, I wanted it, and that was the only place I could find it. I also told them at the time, my business is repeated on how I'm treated after the sale, not before. 'Bout a month later, noticed that my Grizz had the front left axle issue (overmilled groove, stock circlip doesn't hold it) so I took it in and at the same time was looking at a new Kodiak for my wife. I asked them how much for the Kodiak (as I just paid cash for my Grizz the month before) and was told MSRP. No Deal. Who care's if I've spent money before, or that I paid cash. I was a tad put out at that, then I was told that my axle isn't a problem unless it falls out while I'm riding it. That's when I became pissed. I said that I'll go to Yamaha about it if they wont take care of the axle, and also told them I could save $1200.00 on a Kodiak in Canada. My dealer said go ahead and call Yamaha, and if I bought that Kodiak in Canada they don't have to honor the warrenty and they won't. Well, I got to see just how well they honored warrenty work on a more expensive machine bought from their shop. So, to spite them, (and it never hurts to save money) I ordered the Kodiak from Canada.

It is my opinion that many, not all, of the US dealers have "small town mentality". I can go elsewhere to spend my dollar, and I most certainly will if I'm not treated right. I have sense found an awesome dealer just north of me, and even though he is still more expensive then Canada, I will be purchasing another quad this spring and it will be from him because he will come down off MSRP a tad, but main it's his service which is unbeatable. (BTW, he took care of my Grizzly and is taking care of the servicing on the Canadian Kodiak. I am also buying the extended warrenty on the Kodiak from him)

Here's a personal analogy: I own my own company, and it's service oriented. Our competitors are bigger and often less expensive, but we're successful for one reason: Our service. So, if a little guy like me can do it, I don't see why a US Yamaha Dealer can't. Fact is they can, and my "new" dealer is proof of it.

Anyways, sorry it's so long, but I can relate to this situation as I've been in it. Bottom line is if a local dealer thinks they can shaft us, or charge us too much, they're mistaken. We'll drive elsewhere to spend out money.

I will be racing here soon, so I'll look for you. You talked to Bend Recreation about a quad? They're morons, since I am only 15, they wouldn't give me the price on a new Banshee because of my age, I wanted to reach through the phone and choke him!!!! Then I go in there, by myself, and I was checking out a 400EX, they were trying there hardest to get me to buy it, too bad I didn't have any money though Good luck though.

O.k.-Shumdit is exactly correct he got his info from the horses mouth(yamaha). Your canadian vin #s will not even show as a legitamate # on our dealers computers in the u.s.

Moose- I am not "rubbing my better deal in anyones face" due to the european warnings on the fenders a US dealer can tell a canadian machine by looking at it. Most of the dealers in western Washington have a chip on their shoulders because they are losing business. Most of them feel they are doing you a great favor if they take $100-200.00 off MSRP and then add $500.00 freight and setup. And the service departments work harder at getting out of doing the work then fixing your machine(even if you buy them locally...ever read about raptor owners that are a few weeks out of waranty and have gearbox problems)??? Try a search on this subject !!!
A yamaha warranty card is good at any dealer in the US and they all get paid the same rate from the factory.

Shumdit-It's not just the "small town mentallity" alot of us have to deal with this attitude at most of the western Washington dealers. I usually end up going to a small town or Canada.

If a dealer would give a fair price and good service I would buy my quads from a local dealer, but so far I'm still lookin.
Anyway thats my $0.02 worth. In my area if you want a reasonable deal you have to travel a little bit. And the dealers service around here isn't anything to write home about so no big loss.

RaptorRon~

If you're ever in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area, and want to meet a US Yamaha dealer that actually deals straight, let me know. He's up in Sandpoint, Idaho...man I wish I'd have known about him before I bought my Grizzly. He's the first Yammy dealer in the US that I've met and doesn't rake you for MSRP, or those rediculous set up charges.

Hey Grizzjeeper. I live in Gorham, Me. I'm making a trip to ONTARIO in two weeks. I have gotten a quote and made a deposit on a 2002 Raptor Blue/White. The price I'm buying it for is, get this, $5112.00 American. I went down the street 2 miles from my home to Reynolds Motorsports and they quoted me $6,499.00 as we all know is MSRP. When i told them about the price the sales man got ripped and said that's about what we pay for them. KEEP THAT IN MIND.
Another plus. The tax rate is 7%. It is all refundable to you once you export the item from Canada. I have the forms and it takes about 6 weeks. When you register the wheeler your sales slip shows you have already paid the tax as well. + + +
DRAW BACK----I've been told the Yamaha warranty does is not covered in the states. If I were to have a major problem I would have to go to Canada with it. BIG WOOP, considering I am saving $1,400.00
