I'm looking at a 2000 400 Big Bear for my wife. How do they seem to hold up, any inherent problems? Also does anyone make a 4x4 lock out hub for them? Thanks for helping out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a BearTracker is a 250, 2 wheel drive only.

I found a real deal on a 2000 Big Bear 400 4X4 in December. It was listed in an Omaha trading paper priced at $3800. with a Cycle Country snow plow. It was advertised as "hardly used". When I looked at it, I could see that it had seen very little use. The guy that bought it evidently had not communicated with his wife about it, and had lived with the hell of that for the past year. He had purchased it new in December of 2000. I offered him $3500. for it and he took it. I now have the prize in my garage, plow mounted waiting for snow. I have installed the Superwinch 2000 and a couple of other small accessories. I have plowed snow with it and it is quite an animal. This one has full time 4WD, I think they all did in 2000. It seems to work well though and has no handling problems that I can see. About the only down side I see to this machine is that it's top end speed could be better. It seems like you need one more gear or an overdrive to shift into. Still, it goes fast enought for this 53 year old guy, and I look forward to the warmer seasons to come to have a lot of fun with it. I feel like I really got a good buy with mine. I saved a few thousand over buying new from a dealer.
