Lots of argument over this subject! Some say 34 or 35mm, others say a smooth-bored 28-to-30mm Kiehin gives better power. I personally feel the bigger carbs don't carburete well at lower revs. Anyone out there that has tried different setups and has first hand knowledge of the results? I want to be sure before I go out and buy different carbs. My engine is a heavily modified stock displacement. Please let me know.

I am running dual Keihin 33mm PWK's on my Trinity Stage 3 420. I think they are great. My engine pulls hard all the way through. The only drawback is the stiff thumb throttle. (I shaved the slide return springs and that helped a lot.)

I am running 35.5 flatslide mikuni carbs by FTZ. I have a stock displacement motor with some port work. These carbs are set up for alcohol and they work great. I mostly drag race so I am full throttle all of the time. So far I really like these carbs because they are pretty easy to work on.

If you are not drag racing....then get the smaller carbs. The larger carbs only help a little on top (I mean very little!!!). If you are not looking to drag or run alcohol, you will not like the larger carbs IMO.

One other alternative is Lectron carbs. No jets to mess with and they claim to be the best carb....again, this is their opinion. I want to get a set of these one of these days! All of the NHRA drag bikes run these carbs.
