Rubicon Trail on Sport Quads?
#1
We regularly ride mountain trails on my DS and my son's Raptor. We have a friend in Reno we want to visit, along with 3TV in Utah.
We've all seen pictures of the rock crawler 4x4's doing the bad stretches of the Rubicon, most of which have detours for the less capable. Anybody have any personal knowledge here? We want to do the Paiute Trail, Coral Pink Sand-dunes, and the Rubicon. I know the Grizz would make it fine, but I like riding my DS so much more, and I really don't want to haul it 2,000 miles for one ride.

The Rubicon isn't the best place for riding, unless you are into riding very technical trails. Lots of rocks, boulders and dust. I have ridden through the Rubicon on a quad, atc and a dirtbike all with no problem. I've seen a variety of atvs there, so I'm sure your DS would have no problem. There are also a lot of trails in the area to ride on, that are a blast and are more suited for atvs. Its more fun to go and watch all the trucks twisting and crawling, its pretty amazing. We go camping there a lot and always take the bikes. Its definatley fun to ride the trail, don't get me wrong, but its mainly for trucks. I don't think you would regret going, if you don't mind driving 2000 miles...ouch.
