Anyone care to revisit the Dura Blue Lone Star axle issue?

Whit11, I'm not sure on the offset of your 18" wheels, but have you checked on turning them around? I did this to my factory Banshee wheels when I got +2+1 A-Arms, and it widened it quite a bit.

I have the Lonestar +4 axle on my Raptor. I have the Posi-lock nut on it so I've never experienced it loosening. I have had the hubs loosen once. I ran them down with my Ingersoll and havn't had a problem since. I even bent the axle once in a hard crash and Lonestar warrantied it. They didn't give me a single problem and they got it back to me in a couple of days. Great company and product. I highly recommend them.

Lonestarbanshee, The wheels are Douglas 8x8 beadlocks with 5+3 offset, so their already out as far as they will go. I was told that 5+3 offset is as much as Douglas or ITP makes in 8x8. May be a strength issue. Does anyone know if this is true? A set with 6+2 offset would be perfect. Thanks for the input.

My Dura Blue makes mine 50" out side to outside with the stock wheels.

Lonestar and Durablue both stink. I've broken four Durablue axles, then I switched to lonestar thinking they were better, in fact, I bought their chassis for a 250R also. Well, the frame broke in six places in one year. (all the motor mounts, and both main frame rails by the footpegs, and broke the axle, they warranteed it but it still took several weeks). I ended up selling the R and bought a Raptor a year later. Nobody really made an axle except lonestar so I gave them a call, and they talked me into a roundhousing swingarm and an axle. Well, I already bent the axle, and broke the swingarm in two places, of which I'm still waiting on for a replacement with the nationals just around the corner. (my little brothr broke three lonestar axles last year) So my advice is to scrap any lonestar ideas, and buy the RPM Dominator axle. I've raced nationals for several years and have never seen one break, compared to the dozens of durablue and lonestar axles. Lonestar used to be a good company, but they could care less about the customers now.

Dang Raptor18, you got some problems... lol... curse maybe? Just today I saw a Raptor at the track with a durablue axle and he was riding pretty good... I was sitting in the pits takin a breather and than all of a sudden I see one of his wheels fly about 10 ft up in the air. His axle broke clean through. It was pretty cool seeing someone on a Raptor that could actually ride pretty good. Every other Raptor I've seen sucked (When I say raptor, I mean the person that was riding it)

yodaddy,
There seems to be the same problem around here, all the raptor riders stink it up pretty bad, lol. It's kind of cool though, after you win with a raptor, how many people come up and start talking to you. I don't know why they have a bad rep, I love mine. It's faster than my sparks 250R and it handles just as well. I think there's alot of people that ride a stock one and it gives tham a bad impression, but if you compare it to a stock R, it kicks butt, but of course it doesn't compare to a modded R. Put a few more G's into a raptor though, and they compare with ANYTHING. I'm glad there are more witnesses to this lonestar/durablue problem.

Update! The RPM Dominator for the Raptor will be released and shipping next week. Thanks to everybody who replied with a lot of good advise. No one has had anything bad to say about the Dominator so that's probably what I'll get.
