Raptor oil question
#5
You shouldn't 'add' oil. You should fill when you change it. If you check it and it's low, you either have something wrong with your motor or you haven't ever changed your oil, or when you filled it, you didn't follow the filling procedure properly.
You need to frequently change your oil. You only have this little amount in your engine, so it's important that you do it often, and follow the filling procedure.
It's kind of a moral. At the very least you should never have to add oil, because by that time you should have changed it anyway (or 5 or 6 times before it got this way). Or something is very wrong.

Had my Raptor almost 1.5 years now. Never had to add oil, ever, but have noticed you must check oil level the same way every time. Need to follow a procedure or you may find your oil reads differently.

Just on the issue of checking your oil the same way everytime. Yamaha manual says that when checking your oil, do not screw the dipstick into the sump. The oil should be checked by just placing the dipstick in the sump. Not screwing it in like you were sealing it up.
