Im going to order a carb or carbs this week for my raptor and need your input please .....my main task for my 686 raptor is going to be xc racing .....would a single 42 or 45 mm carb be a better choice than 2 fcr carbs ?also I can fab a intake to make a single work if need be or is there somone who make this already?

One big carb will likely reduce the throttle response down low. Bigger the hole, the slower the flow, the slower the response. Comprenez vous? I think the dual FCR's would work better,especially for woods racing, but they are dang expensive and make the throttle a little stiff I've heard. I'm planning on getting the FCr's soon, I'll leave a post.
