Hey guys! Its been so long since I been in the world of atv's. Right now I currently own a 99' 400EX, but am going to sell it for a new quad. I belive im going to get a Banshee. Can anyone out there assure me of this purchase?
Im getting a pretty good deal on it, that I really dont want to pass up. What do ya think? I'll be doin mostly fast paced trail riding and open strip mine area's. Lots of railroad track riding as well.

hey thanks! the real trick to it is that as long as i dont have to work on it, then everything will be fine. I dont suspect I'll be doing the long hours of riding I used too, some of the places around here are getting pretty tough on riders. People complain about two strokes, but I only see the problems in bikes that are abused. I figured if i go new, then I wont have to worry about another's problem ya know?

Hey guys thanks for the responses so far. I suppose I'll just post the following questions on here rather than a new thread.
First, how well is the maintenance aspect? I really dont want to rebuild each year. I dont do a ton of riding like I used to as you know. How reliable do you feel a banshee is(buying brand new)? Lots of folks disreguard two strokes, but I'd like to hear some honest insight. Do you tend to work on it a lot, or get to actually ride it? OH, also, if i do not do my own motor work later on down the road, as far as a rebuild like a top end, how much will a good reputable place charge for a rebuild with the parts? Please let me know, I greatly appreciate this.

Don't worry about the Banshee's reliability....they are a very strong quad. Between 2 of my friends and I we have owned 6 Banshee's. The only major problem I can remember is on my buddies old '89 Banshee. He was having tranny problems, but that is because the person (or people) that owned it before him just totally trashed the thing.
The abuse that these quads can take is unbelievable. I am the first to admit that I am not the most responsible person in the world when it comes to taking care of my "toys", and the Banshee still runs great.
Mine is a 1998 and it has never been rebuilt. My friend just bought a 2001 Banshee last year and the are almost identicle in performance. Beleive it or not, but mine actually pulls him a little bit when we hit 3rd gear. Top end is dead even though. I don't know what kind of riding these guys do that say that they need to be rebuilt every few months, but we do a lot of trail riding and fooling around. By trail riding I don't mean to grandmas house and back, I mean hard trail riding. I keep her in the powerband a lot so she deffinatly isn't babied.
Oh well, I could probably go on and on about this, but it's late and I'm tired so I'll be suprised if any of this actually makes any sense.

Thanks for the responses so far, greatly appreciated. Got a few more questions for ya. First thing, fuel economy, how good is the fuel economy on here? I generally ride 4 hours at a time, relatively fast paced stuff. How much will I be going through? Also, the axle adjustment, really how bad are they? I know it wont be like my 400ex , but enlighten me on that perspective. Lets see, what else, do you foul plugs very often? I anticipate on getting this in a week or two, soon as i sell the 400ex! Hello. Here is one interesting point. ----FUEL ECONOMY---
I have a 99´Banshee with FMF PIpes and sils, Pro Flow air kit, Boost Bottle and 260 mains and 25 pilots jets.
This thing drinks gas as it would be water !!!
The last time , with the gas tank full , I did 27 kms( 18 miles ) and ride also at some big dunes. All the riding was in sand with stock tires.
I think it is a lot of gas for that period of time.
What do U think ???
