I have a modified 99 Banshee, pipes, coolhead,k&N and this winter I've been snowmobiling what a big difference in power, my stock Indy 500 rocks! 100 MPH easy, my question is what to do this summer when Im no longer satisfied with the power of my Banshee
theres nothing I can to make it perform like my sled, Im not rich, so the 130 hp turbo charger is out of the question! why dont they make quads with the big engines like sleds/

I dont think anything will match a sled in performance. Your getting closer with dirt bikes...but hey, alot more trackion alot more motor, alot more fun. The winter months kinda drag on, its great to have something to look forward to.

Hopefully, before summer comes I will have an ATV that is as fast as a sled. I am planning on swapping a sled engine into my '85 Odyssey. I will get started as soon as I can find the right engine, probably a L/C Rotax, Yamaha or Suzuki (AC) twin cylinder engine, 440cc to 500cc or somewhere in that vicinity. I will also need someone capable of fabricating the motor mounts and such for me also.

The stock 350 has an output of around 20-25hp; even a mild single carburetor L/C 440 should have an output of around 60-70hp. This should make a huge difference in the performance of my Odyssey. In a straight-line drag I shouldn’t have a problem hanging with the sleds or most any sport quad, despite size of my gluttonous 600-LB beast.

Any thoughts on this?

Trade it in for a DS650. Im sure there will be mods by this summer that can make it go at least 90.Its already been named the king of speed and performance stock.

My cousin made a simular mod to the odyssey he had. I believe it had come with a 250 motor and it was an older odyssey model. I think they had to modify the frame a little and they put in an old 440 kawasaki motor in it out of a JD sled. It was pretty safe with the roll cage and could go up to about maybe 60mph. A lot of power but a rough ride with no rear suspension.

The 250's were rough riding indeed, they also lacked reverse. My 350 has four wheel independent suspension and reverse. I believe this chassis can handle the Engine I wish to put in it. When I'm done with the engine I will most likely want to upgrade my suspension and brakes. I'll probably go with Works shocks in the rear, I plan on getting a front suspension from a Banshee at a salvage yard or in the classifieds. From what I've been told it is easily adapted to the Odyssey. This would give me a more modern A-arm front suspension and disc brakes up front. I'll cross those bridges when I get there though...

Reasons I don't trade it for a DS650;

1.) $7000 for DS650, $2500 at the most to do my conversions, including suspension work.

2.) There isnt a roll cage on the DS650. I would most likely kill myself on it.

3.) The engine I plan (fingers crossed) on getting; 500cc Rotax twin with dual carbs should make around 90-100hp stock..... far more than the DS650 would ever make except maybe in a full race application.

4.) I tried to trade it in one time and the dealer would only give $750 trade... I've got twice that in the stock engine when I had it rebuilt.
