After Market Hour Meter:
#1
I remember reading somewhere on these pages, where someone said that they had installed an hour meter to their quad. Where can a person find such a meter? Some models with speedometer/odometer, makes it easier to figure maintenance intervals. My 2000 Big Bear has no such instrumentation. An hour meter or odometer would help. Where could a person find one, and how difficult would it be to install? Not too difficult I'm guessing.

I got a GYT-R hourmeter/tach for $45 from my Yamaha dealer. It has pre programed service intervals. Like plow78 said you just wrap the wire around the spark plug wire. I drilled & tapped my Trail Tech light mount & mounted it with stainless screws & put rubber washers under it for viabration isolation.

I called the local Yamaha dealer. They didn't have one is stock, but could get one in about seven days, at a cost of $55. I went to Jack's Small Engine on the web, and ordered one for $39. + $5. shipping/handling. I expect I should get it fairly soon, and saved about ten bucks too. Thanks to you all for the input.
