The guy from the cpsc called last night
about the complait I file with them on
the Raptor tranny problem he's coming over
tonight to take pic's of the bike and get
a copy of the repair bill he also told me
only 4 other guys filed from so. cal.(whats up )
they are going to try to make yamaha recall
all 01's and have them get the 02 upgrade these guys
are hot on it so if your tranny has failed
file with the consumer product safety commission
1-800-683-2772 or do a search and find the post
that has the website there WILL BE A RECALL if
there is alot of complaits they think yamaha
is covering this thing up now is the time to act
or save your money so when your tranny go's
you can give yamaha MORE MONEY!!!!!!!

We should also see if there is a way to get the raptors and grizz's recalled for the week valve springs. That would be great.

If Yamaha steps up that would say alot for the company, and I think they will definately recieve repeat buyers in the future. But the real honor we'll go to you Raptor owners that have made your voices heard. I hope you guy's get what you have already paid for.

Was at Sand Mt. last weekend and a friend of a friend had a '01 Raptor and you guessed it. He started hearing strange noises and it finally got so bad they knew they better not ride it. He is not a forum member and I asked him if he thought it was the tranny he said yep (stupid question I know). Asked if it started in second gear, he said yep. I will e-mail the thread to my friend to see if he can get it to his friend.

Sorry you guys have to be put through this crap. Yamaha is not earning any business this way.

what if you've had no problems? can you get these new gears anyway? when there was a recall on the seat belt latches in my '89 trans-am. they just sent me a letter and i took it to the pontiac dealership. they replaced them. i never had a problem. will this be the same or was that because it was a safety issue?

I don't think I would consider Yamaha is "stepping up" if they have a recall because they are forced to by the Consumer Product Safety Commision. Don't get me wrong, I hope it happens, but we've been trying to get them to do the right thing for a year. If they only do it because they have to, they're still not supporting their customers...

Just heard from one of my friends that has a contact at Yamaha. They should cover the tranny problem even if it is out of warranty. He did not say anything about replacing a tranny just because it is an '01 but, on a tranny where it failed in second / third gear, they will replace.

I will keep you updated on if this really does work out.
