I havnt had a problem yet with my 01..put when im riding its always in the back of my mine that it could go....IM NEVER 1 TO WINE..but you just cant help it when you pay 6700 for something and all that power and that thought is back there...plus sence day one of owning it its always been a **** to find neutral....Ive owned 2 blasters and a shee...finding neutral on them...ha i could do that in my sleep!!!

 

Hey if anyone has those transmission problems with the raptor dont even shift into 2nd mine falied when i hit the throttle i kept on the throttle and the thing went over backwards. I plan on selling the machine insted of paying 1000 dollars ontop of the money i already spent replacing the shifting fork.

What if you already spent the $1,000? We had 3 0f 4 in our club go south. All now sport 02' trannies! How many have to break before it is a problem? I love my Raptor, but this is my last Yamaha!!!!!!! This has been a problem since the beginning. How about the poor sucker in the first baja with a Raptor that led until 30 miles from the finish? Yamaha has known about this from the beginning, and they didn't care!! Rambling on? Yes! Angry? Yes!

Unfortunatley YoDaddy..........They don't care. I'm just hoping mine holds out long enough till I can get the money to swap out the gears. Theres hope, but its kind of like playing russian rullete........You never know.......

Ducking YAMAHA, they should have stepped up to the plate 2 years ago and not left their customers stranded. They have to be aware of the problem if they made changes to the '02 model.

Sounds like they've had a few Duck ups that should be addressed, Valve springs, '03 Grizzley side axles....

Hopefully the consumer complaints commission throws the book at them and makes an example of them.

I have even had thoughts of selling my fast unreliable raptor for a stone reliable(and equally slow) 400ex......But then of course I'd have to drop a 440 kit in it then it'd be more expensive than just dropping the 02' gears in the rappy.......UGH!!! My head hurts.......
