I have a 2002 Raptor, but I think it has the old gear ratio.(2001)
Is this possible?
The numbers, as described in my manual are:

1st: 34/14
2nd: 29/19
3d: 26/21
4th: 22/21
5th: 19/21

Could this be the reason why I can't keep up with the DS650?
If I change my stock sprockets (13/40) to 12/40, could this solve my problem?
I removed my airboxlid, but didn't notice any difference in power?

I have also ordered an aftermarket CDI-box to improve low-end power. Has anyone done this before? Does it add a lot of power?

Greetings Andre

YEs thats the 01 gear ratio. I think someone slipped youa 01 and said it was an 02. Other wise maybe the manual is for the 01. You can tell if its an 01 by the rear shock and rear subframe. The 02 has a piggy back shock and a round tube rear subframe. The 01 has a remote res shock and a square rear subframe. There are other small things but this is the most obvious ones. Let me know what you have.

Well, I'm replying for Andre (cause he's not here right now. I'm his neighbour)

We checked the quad, and found that it has square tubes, and a remote shock-reservoir.
We'll post some pics soon, just to be sure (before we kick the dealer's ***)
Are there more differences between 2001-2002?

Oh, and probably not relevant, but he broke the 2nd gear after 1 month.....

Sounds like an 01.. someone lied to you...

if he broke 2nd gear PLEASE PLEASE have him fill out a CPSC complaint..

we are trying to get all the 01 raptors recalled and fixed for good!

Need info about the recall and cpsc click here

Yups, it's metal..............

But how does the 2001 model differ from the 2002 model? Faster and slower acceleration?

Ow, and the aftermarket CDI does that make a difference? My neighbours' isn't installed yet, cause a friend of his produces these units for White Power, and needs a Raptor to experiment with....

mijn bombardier-broers zijn toch wel echt jaloers op de raptor.
ze kunnen alleen maar gas geven, als ze moeten jumpen of weelie's maken, dan bedanken ze.
Ze hebben gewoon geen nuts on here clutche.
