Short story on jetting

i just got through explaining this to 2 people..YOU MUST USE KAND N OIL!! The difference is the KandN oil has "sticky" components in it. Motor oil is made to lube..Kand n is designed so that dirt particles cling to it. So yeah you can use motor oil..but it really defeats the purpose..
do yourself a favor and do things right..go and get yourself a KandN fliter cleaning kit. comes with the cleaner and oil. I bought mine from a SUV store 17 dollars. GOOD INVESTMeNT!

I know not to use motor oil, it was PJ1 foam filter oil this may be a mistake too. So is this any differnt than K&N filter oil, its not the spray its a pourable liquid.
We have a trip planned this weekend to go to LA Dunes as soon as I get back I will start back on jetting. I have run out of time this week. I have to drive an hour to get jets since my sorry local dealer doesn't stock any jets. Not to mention I wouldn't get them there if they gave them away. I am also going to have to get a filter chager kit to now clean off all of the extra oil I put on it and reoil it right.

if you buy the filter charger kit, it will come with cleaner and oil. from what i understand, when you use motor oil it has a tendency to drain down to the bottom of the filter because of the weight. the residue it leaves behind is not sufficient. as far as the pj1 oil goes i have no clue. come on man, the kits like $10. i'm sure you've spent more than that just on your experiment. do the right thing and go to autozone.haha. how's the weather down there? it was around 78 today now it's around 38. what's it gonna be like in la.? later.

I checked the weather in Alex for this weekend. There is a chance of rain on Sat. but Sunday is going to be sunny and its going to be warm both days. We are leaving Sat morning at 6:30. Whenever you get there we will be in a big 3/4 ton 4x4 dodge with lights all over it. I stripped the head off of my chain adjuster nut this evening so I have to go to the machine shop tommorow to get it fixed.

Although K&N filters come with some oil on them, for off-road riding, you must add additional K&N oil. Read the instructions guys.
I use the spray oil. After applying a modest amount of oil, I wrap the filters in paper towels and let them sit over night. BY the next morning, the oil has "wicked" or evened out in the filter and any excess oil has been soaked up by the paper towels. Now I have a filter that is ready for dirt riding.
By the way, this method will help insure that your jetting remains accurate between filter cleanings.
One last note, your filters will dry out during use. If you fail to inspect the filters for enough oil, you could easily be looking for a new engine.
