A friend of mine just bought a BearTracker. Although the engine size is a little small, it seems to be a pretty good machine.
We'd like to hear from anyone who has or used to have a BearTracker and what they thought of them. And any modifications they'd recommend.

I had 2 of the previous versions, the Timberwolves. Both first year models, don't remeber what year though. I think when they started making them in the USA they changed the name to Bear Tracker.

Only problems... rear ends went out.. both of them. But they spent ALOT of time pulling too big of a trailer thru lots of swamp.

Can't think of anything else.. they take alot of abuse, I promise [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I have a 99 beartracker with many many hours on it, It gets used mostly for trail riding and rippen around down by the river and playin in da mud, I have bearclaws on rear, drilled out airbox and installed richer main jet. I run klotz synthetic oil in it, havent did a thing to it other than normal mantenence. It handels the tight trails better than my kodiak or grizzly

 

yeah i have a 2001 beartracker but bought it new in 2000 and it is a good quad. i ride mostly on trails and in the mud. i haven't had one bit of trouble on it. i only got stuck 2 times once in a big mud hole and one in a snow bank. i am selling mine only because i want to get a bigger engine and bigger quad.

How big was that trailer u were towing?
Sounds like the engine and tranny were lots strong enough if the rear end was the part that broke.

How big are the Bearclaws u put on? Did they increase the ground clearance?

lets say it was 4' X 5'. It was made by some guy, it had a real axle on it too.. really low to the ground with no shocks. I drug that sucker all over the place one summer. We were building a shed on the creek bank where we camed at. The stuff we pulled included several railroad ties (sp?) for the posts.

I think both bikes could have been saved, but my dad is the kind of person who says &quot;if it ain't broke, don't fix it&quot; and we rode them till they locked up!
