Question for Trinity 686 kit owners

I have just recieved and installed my trinity 686 kit on my raptor. Raptor setup: Trinity 686 kit, HMF full pipe, dj kit set at stock pilots, dj needles, 146/148 mains, two K&N clamp on filters, (tossed the stock air box).
First run, head pipe turns red just off idle after 2 minutes. Rejeted mains to 165/168.
Second run, head pipe still turn red after about 10 minutes at about 1/4 throttle.
I'm at 3500ft elevation, Trinity did not have a clue on jetting.
Not sure what to do from here.
I need to know what jeting should be for a starting point?

dont be suprised that trinity doesnt know about jetting at altitude, years of experience have taught me that none of the manufacturers (dynojet, webcam, engine builders, pipe makers) have a clue about what to do at altitude, its not just less oxygen its less volume of air (low air pressure), from your description you are lean so start by opening up the air fuel screw 1/4 turn (counterclockwise) see if that takes care of the lean idle, you probably should go up to a 25 on your pilots hopefully that will take care of low end. 165/168 mains could be ok if you are not having top end problems. the rule of thumb for main jets is increase them in size until you have a flat spot or cut out at full throttle then back off a size. hopefully this helps, home base for me is 5200' but I usually ride at 7000'->8000'

I think you are a little on the BS side when you say that Trinity did not have a clue on jetting -- but that is for you and Trinity to work out.
As for jetting, the main jet has nothing to do with the red header pipes at idle or just off idle. For your setup, I would run stock pilot jets, especially at altitude. Although there are a number of reasons why your headpipes might glow red, it is usually a lean condition. You can fix it by turning out the pilot screws 1/8 turn each.

You are guy I PM'd asking about who to send my motor to beef up. Just an FYI, the guy I delt with (Bear) aked like it was too much trouble to tell my what my jetting would be. He basicly said " We set them to a 165/168 or 168/170 for this area, and that is about all I tell you for jetting."
It really wasn't much help.
A big "Thanks" to all that have sent a reply. I at least know if I'm in the ball park. The next thing to toss will be thoose junk carbs.
