Wolverine?
#1
Hello,
After months of visiting different dealers, taking test rides, searching the internet I have finally decided that my 1st atv will be a 2000 Wolverine.
I was originally considering a Magnum 500 or Grizzly. I'm sure both are fine machines, but after test riding them I couldn't see myself being able to throw them around on a trail or hitting some decent jumps. I'm also a little worried about the reliability of the selectable 4wd and polaris wheel slip sensing system.
While I do plan on working my atv (plowing snow, hauling firewood, etc..) most of my time on the machine will be spent playing around.
I will be buying as soon as my tax return arrives and I just wanted to see if anyone thought I was making a terrible decision and look forward to any advice - likes - dislikes that anyone may have.
Thanks

well I've been doing the same thing (researching on which bike is right for me) after a few months of driving my wife crazy - I finally got one (ha) a 00 wolverine ! i Have two buddies that own them and love them so that helped me on the decision - I think I made the right one! Good Luck!!

I own a 1999 Wolverine. The only problem that I have had with other than a being rear-ended by my brother-in-law on his Grizzly is when I put some Vampires on it. When going through deep thick mud, it does not turn over the tires very well. Other than that, I love it. I weigh around 135 lbs and I have had larger riders drive my bike. It doesn't seem to do as well with large riders.

I'm 6'3' and 250 lbs. my wolverine has no problem hauling my big butt around. I.ve done a few mods to up the horsepower and torque but nothing real extensive. One thing to watch for is not to jump it real hard cause they are known for bent rear axles. I've never had a problem in 5 years and I drive quite aggressive. Another thing is to not buy to much tire for the bike. the stock ones are kind of small but the bike turns them well. I chose for 25" dunlops off a Big Bear. The tires are light cause they are a 2 ply and dont rob any power. With a few engine mods they can easily turn the larger tires .Also I have about 10" of ground clearance now.I can go anywhere with my tires, than my buddy can with his bear claws on his wolverine. And I can out accelerate him on the dirt roads too!!!
