<< they also cromed it for me and now the first half is a orange gold color...they are going to have to dip it again you can count on that! >>
Well you are right on that. But it will turn blue. There really is not any way to stop that. There is a polish for it but it just happens to chrome headers.

I have been told that the Raptor motor runs notorious HOT and that you should NEVER let the motor just idle for a period longer that 2 minutes. Apparently Yamaha was aware of this issue and that is why the Raptor has a cooling fan for the motor. While riding, the motor cools itself from the passing air, but at idle the Raptor motor cannot dissapate heat properly. Thus, your header pipes start glowing, according to reports from the people at Big Gun and Trinity, they had run into situations where they have seen people melt their cylinders because they let their engine idle for 10 minutes (or longer).
Look for alot of cooling products for the Raptor motor in the future to resolve this problem.

its common on raptor head pipes to glow a little red after its sat at idle position for a while, but if thier still glowing as your riding your machine, its running lean. the only way to properly jet your machine is on a dyno with an exhaust meter.
