Warrior Mods
#1
Hey Guys. I own a 2001 Yamaha 350 Warrior. Its pure stock right now, and I am having a BLAST in the snow in the L.P. of Michigan right now. Sure am glad we got that late February snowstorm! Well anyways, I got my catalog from Rocky Mountain ATV the other day and I am considering ordering the following things:
1) K&N Air Filter with an Outerwear
2) K&N Oil Filter
3) Huevos Grandes 4(Need some entertainment when I am not ridng)
4) The most important one, an exhaust system.
Now here is my problem. What exhaust should I get? Everyone around here has a FMF. I like em and all but I could use something a little different. I am looking at the White Brothers E Series Pro Meg, and the Big Gun Complete Exhaust. I really like the White Bros but I want to have a new header pipe. What would be the best pipe for me to get? If you don't think either of these are the right one for me, please tell me. I am looking for a good pipe that will give me more HP but also will still last me quite a while. Also, what do you think about the K&N Filters?
Thanks Guys!

More snow tonight! 3-6" around here. (Shiawassee County, east of Lansing, west of Flint)
I don't know what your future riding plans are, or your destinations, but if you're ever planning on going to Silver Lake or riding on state land, you'll need a pipe that is no louder than 94 dB. That ABSOLUTELY rules out the White Bros. E-Series ProMeg, I've got one, and it's LOUD. With the loudness comes awesome power gains though. The quiet (and legal) way to go right now is the FMF "Q" Series. I'm thinking about maybe taking the E-Series off and getting an FMF so I'll be legal at the dunes this year. The new header pipe will do nothing for you. The stock header flows more than enough even for highly modified Warrior motors.
The best air filter setup is the ProDesign/K&N setup to insure maximum power and maximum protection against dirt getting into the engine. The air filter is a clamp on type that will attach to a custom aluminum adapter that bolts to the airbox. The stock filter is held in place by the lid and is easily mis-installed which is deadly, especially at the dunes. Magic Racing (586) 254-9117 down in the Detroit area has this setup for $94.95, with same day shipping.
With a new air filter and a new pipe, re-jetting will be mandatory to keep the motor from running lean and to extract the most gains from the mods so the easiest way to do that is with a Dynojet kit (or K&N jet kit from Rocky Mountain). This kit comes with a variety of main jets and detailed instructions so that you will only have to do it once.
After the pipe/air filter/jet kit mods, start saving for tires. The stock Dunlops are a joke. I sold mine to a sucker at a yard sale for $10. Maxxis Razr's or ITP Holeshots improve the handling so much it is almost hard to believe that Yamaha doesn't put them on to begin with, especially since they put decent radial tires on the Raptor.
Oh, and the video, I heard from a couple of guys that the pictures are cool but the soundtrack sucks.
Enjoy the snow, Spring's coming!

You do not need a new header pipe. The stock warrior one is about the same size as every aftermrket one. I would go with the White Bro's Pro Meg. Also i would suggest buying a Quite core insert when riding in "low noise" areas. I love my WB, it has good power, nice sound and a strong sturdy construction. A buddy has FMF on his machine and it just does not have all the power i figured it would have. Big Gun is good but you do not need a header pipe. Personaly i would go with a UNI air filter with bel-ray filter oil. I have a had a few problems with K&N in the Jeep.
A great a/t tire is the Bandits. My warrior with the bandits can jus about go every where in the snow that our wolvy can. They are also awsome in mud. IF you want even more punch out of your warrior, get a new cam.

I have the Pro Flow foam kit along with the Big Gun Race Series silencer.
I must say that it runs a lot better and stronger than stock. That stock air filter design is pathetic. Both mods were a breeze to install, and I haven't had any problems as of yet. Another thing you should do is install a 14 tooth front sprocket in place of the stock 13 tooth. The Warrior has the torque to pull a taller gear, and this will give you better acceleration and top-end. I think that types of exhausts are simply a matter of personal preference. They will all give you a cool sound and a signifigant power gain over stock, so do some research, then in the end just follow your instincts. There are LOTS of good systems out there. As far as the air filters go, if you're running in alot of sand, use a foam filter. If not, use a K&N.

Thanks a ton guys. This really helps. I am just trying to find out the right one I want. I think I am going to have to go with White Bros Pro Meg. I think I will still stick with the K&N Filters. I am tho going to go look at the pro flow before I order K&N. Thanks a ton. Cya, ride hard
