i just ordered a case of Motul racing oil and i am converting the european liquid measurments to u.s. i seem to forget what the required mix ratio is for a banshee motor. is it 50:1 or 66:1 ??

Also i just rebuilt the top end on the motor. What are the best ways to break in the motor??

thanks in advance

I *think* the stock requirement is like 32:1.. or 20:1 or something really rich..

I would normally go 50:1 or so with a good synthetic..

You need to call a Yamaha Shop. I have never had a banshee and have only had Kawasaki two strokes and the ones I have owned always have been 32 to 1 mix ratio.

Well, 32:1 is the standard ratio that most people use. I have never heard of anyone damaging their engine from using too much oil; too little oil is another story.

I always run 40:1 or 50:1 in my two strokes.

Shouldn't he go by what Motul recommends and forget about Yamaha? I have always heard that you go with what the oil says.

Are you runnning the 800 2T race oil? If so I believe Motul says 50:1 on that.

I may be wrong....maybe you should use the manufacturers recommendations, but I run AMSOil 100:1 (I run it at 80:1) and have had absolutely no problems. My buddy has run it in his Banshee (he has owned 3 since 1994) and has never had any engine trouble. He has not rebuilt any of his engines so that is good enough proof for me.

Obviously the safest thing to do is call your Yammy dealer then call Motul. See if what they both say the same thing. I know some dealers know what they are doing, but there are also a lot that don't have a clue.

I agree with Piranha, follow the recomendations of the oil make. Yamaha recomends 32:1 because that is the mix ratio for the Yamalube.

If you just had it rebuilt then I reccomend keeping the mix rich, 32:1. After 20hrs of running I would go to whatever mix is recommened on the bottle. I personally run 32:1 all the time.
