Which one do you prefer. Looking to buy my first set of sand tires. To be used at Glamis and or other dunes. Don't plan on dragging etc so the angled blades are for me. Also 8 or 10 paddles? shark fins or dune trackers for the front? TIA

well, i've owned both the sand skate II's and the skat trak edge. the sand skate II are a heavier tire that is one peice mold. that is a plus, but the tire is very hard and even with all the air out it seams to have a very hard ride. the tires have less traction than the edge. the edge tires are much lighter and softer, but the paddles are glued on
i ve found that the 20x10x10-10 paddle edge works just fine the raptor.
so far i have stock front tires..

Thanks for the reply vmax,
The glued on paddles was a concern to me.. But i'd also like the best traction. Wish more people would chime in with an opinion.

Yes the Edge type are lighter. The process for putting on the paddles is called vulcanizing. Yes the Skate II's are heavier of the two. As far as the Edges having more traction than the Skate II, I would disagree on that. I'd say that the Haulers & Taller Haullers are more agressive than the Edges. As far as a good all round paddle the Skate II's are are at the top of the heap. Their is a new paddle out from Kenda called th Gecko you could look into. I think their was a write-up in the latest Dirt wheels about them.

i habve a set of haulers that are around ten years old, and the paddles show no signs of separation. the chances of paddles becomeing undone on the skat trak tires is next to nothing. as far as front are concerned im running gbc dune trackers up front

I used to run Edges, but the paddles kept breaking/falling off. My friend has been running the Sand Skate 2's for 3 years now and they are holding up great. My next set of paddles are going to be the Sand Skate 2. I dont see any real traction difference between the 2, now the price difference as another story...

Thanks roostking,

The sand skate 2's are where i'm leaning and they are less expensive.

What about the Roosters? I have never used them or talked with anyone who has but man don't the look good. I have been thinking of getting a full set for myself. I have some sand sharks right now and they are getting pretty wore out. How do they compare to the rest of the angled paddles?

My friend lost a couple paddles off of his Skat Trak's a while back. He was pissed because he only had like 15 years of hard use on them, including top speed runs up Ted Kipf road at Glamis, which is not sand. Oh well, what can you do?

That would be a vote for the skat traks i'm guessing. Thanks for the input.
