I would like to know how long it has taken people to rebuild there raptor's tranny defect. Also, how long has a dealer charged to put togther a tranny?
Yamaha paid to take my tranny apart, so, i was only to pay to have it put togther, and for parts,....they charged 11 hours, over $1000 in labor to put mine back togther. how bad did i get beat?

Do a search. One post said 3.5 hours start to finish to replace the gear set. You could also call Mickey Dunlap. He can replace the gears with the 2002 set and labor for the price you paid just for putting it back together. You got burnt really bad.

Yeah he should have... but then he would have to buy lights every time he went riding because he got rocks thrown at him by all the YAMAHAs in front of him!

Direct from Mickey Dunlap's post:

"With any 660 Yamaha motor, Grizzly or Raptor, that has more than 10 hours on it the intake valves will have started to "tulip" at the 45 degree angle. This is caused by too low seat pressure on the valve springs. For us to do the motor complete here with gaskets, new rings, hone the cylinder, 5-valve job, 3 intake valves, heavy duty valve springs and all the gear box mods it will be right at $995. For another $150 you can add a high compression piston. That way if you ever want to put a cam in it the valve springs and piston are already in there and you can just pop the top cover and install the cam."

:End of Mickey's post.

You got burnt bad and it sounds like others did too! Sorry!
