Im about to buy a quad. Im getting rid of my quadracer, it breaks every ride. Im going to be in debt for 2 years if I buy a 01 Raptor, it better be worth it. A 2000 400ex id $1000 cheaper. I also heard about weak a-arms and axles, is this true? I wont have much money for repair and I ride hard, 10 ft jumps with no landing ramp. Did all the 01 Raptors have tranny problems? thanks

OMG, My black/white one has been OK. All stock except some homemade Raptor scales (made out of electrical tape) placed statistically to make it look authentic as the Raptor it is. made early April 01. 15500 area VIN

My 2001 has been fine, I know that some have had problems, but mine is good. If you buy one try to find one with a higher serial number. I think the later ones might be better, but this is purely speculation.

My last 5 digits on the vin number are 25555.

Hope that helps

Just to put a damper on everyones theory. My last 5 digits of serial number are 01615 California model, bought June 5th 2001. Ive had not 1 problem with my Raptor. I love it. I think its the best all around quad on the market. Period.

P.S. Should my tranny go tomorrow or somthing else, my feelings on this quad will not change. Its strong (lots of power), it handles great and I feel it's the best looking quad out there especialy the Black and White models.

the only thing you need to watch on 01 is the carbs blowing off, and the back axle nuts coming loose, just slap some lock tite on the nuts, thats what i did, havent had a problem withthem since.
