the problem is no matter how hot the spark you cant burn the fuel without oxygen, a hotter spark only helps if your existing spark is insuficient to start proper combustion, it can also help by burning combustion byproducts off the plug. generally speaking the hotter spark concept is just another way to get you to spend your money. the reason you can probably go up on main jets is most people are running leaner than they realize, that actually gets you good power, though running a bit rich is better (cooler) for the motor

<< Ok, so if you added more fuel you are rich. But if you add more fuel with a hotter spark and are able to burn the added fuel(hotter spark will more completely burn the fuel) you will make more power.

Here is Nology's explanation. Nology Performance

ok... I read the entire page.. it makes 378 versus 370 horsepower on a Chevy engine.. an increase of about 2%

On a 40 horse raptor motor that's 0.8 HP... I can even buy that.. but it's not from MORE fuel, it's a more precise detonation of fuel.(Quote from Nology "Whereas with HotWires, the ultra powerful spark guaranties that combustion is initiated at exactly the set timing. It takes 135 degrees of crankshaft rotation to release all the energy of a spark with a duration of 4 milliseconds, at an engine speed of 7500 rpm. In comparison, the HotWires spark will have released 100% of the available energy in less then 1 degree of crankshaft rotation. Now that's timing accuracy.&quot One of the things I mentioned in my first post. ("The perfect mix of air and fuel detonated at the perfect point makes the most power&quot

No where in this article does it state to use MORE fuel. Fuel consumption does not directly relate to power, or everyone would run 400 mains...

So while your plug wires do have a potential to make more power, it has nothing to do with putting more fuel in the motor, it's all about making the proper air/fuel mixture explode at the precise degree needed.

The other thing that is highly assumed here is that the raptor coil has the potential to spark that quick. If it doesn't it's a complete waste of money.

I have no idea what the plug wires cost.. but I highly doubt if you'd be able to notice any performance difference on a raptor. If you DID notice a difference, I would bet that its from the jetting itself, not the wires.

Here is what Nology has to say about the fuel issue, "Flame front growth is much quicker and combustion more complete, resulting in increased horsepower and a cleaner burn. And because an ultra powerful spark can ignite more fuel, you can raise fuel flow, increasing horsepower even more." Try reading this link Nology Details.

2% more power for $30, what the hell.

I have no issue with $30...

my fear would be that any gain the wires might give, would be negated by bad jetting.. one jet size wrong can do a heck of a lot more than %2 total horsepower..

You really want a good running raptor, the money would be better spent on jets and needles and lots of time playing in the carbs.. dial that bad boy in..

fuel to air ratio over the entire spectrum is where it's at... but it takes lots of work...
